Canva alternatives for business cards

A design tool and a card on a link are two different things; this says which is which.

Canva is a design tool, free to use, and its digital business card is a design shared as a link or published as a website. A card here is a page of contact buttons on your own address, saving into a phone in one tap.

In plain words

A picture of a card, and a card

Sharing a design as a link gives the reader a picture. It looks exactly like your card, which is the point, and their phone cannot do anything with it: no number to press, no address to save, nothing to keep.

A card on its own link is the other thing. It is a page with buttons, and one of them writes your name, number, email and website straight into their contacts. The look matters; being usable matters more.

Their column is from their own business card page; the digital row is the part worth reading twice.

Everything in their column was read on Canva's own pages on 22 September 2026, and each row links the page it came from. Prices move, so check theirs there before you decide.

Their page describes the digital version of a card as sharing a design "as a View-only link" or publishing it as a website. That is a picture of a card on a page, which is a different thing from the card this site makes, and the table says which is which.

The short answer

Canva compared with this site

For drawing, theirs wins and it is not close. It draws posters, decks, social posts and a hundred things this site will never attempt, and it draws them with a canvas you control layer by layer.

This site does one job: cards. The free maker fills a finished layout with your details and hands you a print-ready file, and the account puts the same details on a link with a code, a pass and a lead form.

Fair is fair

Where Canva is the better choice

Three places where their tool is plainly the right one.

  • Anything beyond a card: their editor draws posters, decks and social posts, and ours draws cards and nothing else.
  • A designer who wants full control of the canvas, layer by layer, rather than a card layout to fill in.
  • Somebody who wants one place for every piece of artwork a small business needs.

Questions about designing and linking

Can I bring a design I made elsewhere?

You can upload artwork for a printed card, and the card on your link is built from your details rather than an image, so it stays readable on any screen.

Is your maker free like theirs?

Yes, with no account and no watermark, and the download is a print-ready PDF at three hundred dots an inch with bleed and crop marks.

Why not just share a picture of my card?

Because a picture cannot be saved into a phone's contacts or changed after you send it. A link can do both, which is the whole reason this site exists.

Can I have both?

Most people do: a printed card carrying a code, and the card on the link that the code opens. Neither one replaces the other.

Your turn

Design one, then give it a link

The maker costs nothing and the free card costs nothing, so the pair of them is a short afternoon.
