Make an email signature in your browser

Five layouts, your own colour, and a block you can paste straight into your mail program.

An email signature is the block at the foot of your messages carrying your name, your job and your contact details. Fill the fields in here, pick a layout, and copy the finished signature into Gmail, Outlook or Apple Mail.

Start with your name. The rest is optional.

Paste the first one straight into your mail program's signature box. If the box asks for code instead, use the HTML.

Step by step

How to make an email signature

Step 01

Fill in your details

Name, job, company, phone, email and a link. A field you leave blank draws no line, so nothing says Your company here.

Step 02

Pick a layout and a colour

Five shapes, from a single quiet line to a boxed card. The colour is the accent on your name, your job and your link.

Step 03

Copy and paste it

Copy the signature, open your mail program's signature settings and paste it in. Copy the HTML instead if the box asks for code.

Worth knowing

Making it behave in a mail program

Mail programs are strict. They throw away most modern layout, so this signature is built from a plain table with the spacing written on each cell. It is old-fashioned, and that is why it survives being pasted.

Every word you type is escaped before it is written, so an ampersand in a company name or a quotation mark in a job title cannot break the block you are about to send to a customer.

There is no picture in this one, because a picture has to be hosted somewhere a recipient can reach. A published card gives the signature a photo, a logo and a QR code served from your own card, and keeps them current when your details change.

Clear answers

Questions about signatures

Where do I paste it?

Into your mail program's signature settings. In most of them there is a box under Settings and Signature; paste the copied block straight in.

The paste lost its formatting. What now?

Some boxes ask for code instead. Use Copy HTML and paste that into the box that mentions HTML or source.

Can I add my photo?

Not in this tool: a photo has to live at an address the recipient can open. A published card hosts yours and the card's own signature puts it in.

Is my information sent anywhere?

No. The signature is built in your browser and copied from there. Nothing you type is posted to us.

Why is there no logo in the preview?

For the same reason as the photo. The block you copy has to work in somebody else's inbox, and a picture with nowhere to live shows as a broken box.
