What happens to passes if my plan ends?

Pro + Wallet

Passes stay on people's phones, nobody new can add them, and if your plan stays ended for 90 days the passes are retired; everything you set up is kept.

In your dashboard: Your Card > Wallet > the Upgrade or Change plan on Billing button at the top

Last updated

Nothing is taken off anybody's phone at once, and nothing you set up is deleted.

While Pro + Wallet is off

This is the case when your plan is no longer Pro + Wallet (or you remove the wallet pass you added on its own before), when a payment fails and your account moves to the Free plan, and when your plan ends. A payment that fails also hides your pass on phones, below.

  • The passes already on people's phones stay there.
  • The Add to Apple Wallet and Add to Google Wallet buttons leave your card, so nobody new can add your pass.
  • The Wallet screen stays in view but greyed: you cannot change the pass, publish it, add places or send a message on it. You can still remove a place.
  • Messages that send themselves to your pass wait. They go on by themselves when Pro + Wallet is back.
Add to Apple WalletAdd to Google Wallet

When Pro and the add-on are back, your pass, your places and your settings are as you left them, and the buttons come back to your card.

If a payment does not go through

Your pass is hidden on people's phones until the payment goes through. Nothing is sent to their phones to say so.

  • On an iPhone, the pass shows our name and one short line instead of your details.
  • On Android, Google Wallet moves the pass to its expired passes.
Add to Google Wallet

Update your card on the Billing screen. When the payment goes through, your own pass comes back on every phone by itself, and on Android it returns to the main list.

If your plan ends

When your plan ends, the passes on phones stop changing. If it stays ended for 90 days, the passes are retired: on an iPhone Apple Wallet greys the pass out, and on Android Google Wallet moves it to its expired passes. That way nobody is left holding a pass that quietly stopped being true. Start Pro again before then and nothing is retired.

You can also retire your pass yourself at any time. See Retiring a pass.
