Checking people in at the door

Pro + Events

Scan tickets opens your phone's camera to check each pass at the door, and a door link lets your staff do the same on their own phones with no account.

In your dashboard: Your Card > Scan tickets > Open the scanner under an event

Last updated

  1. Open Scan tickets in the menu, under Your Card. It lists the events you can scan: each one from the moment it is published to 6 hours after it ends.

  2. Press Open the scanner under the event. On Events, the green Check in under an event opens the same scanner.

  3. Press Start the camera, and allow the camera when your phone asks.

  4. Point the camera at the QR code on the pass. The answer shows at once, with a beep.

What the scanner says

  • Valid - checked in now: let them in.
  • Already checked in: this pass was checked in before, at the time shown.
  • Awaiting payment: the ticket is not paid yet. If they pay you there, press Mark paid and admit.
  • Waiting for approval, Cancelled, Not a ticket for this event or Not a ticket: this pass does not let them in.

Two phones scanning the same pass get one Valid - checked in now between them; the other is told it was already checked in. The count at the top says how many have checked in so far.

Without the camera

Type a number under Type the ticket number and press Check in, or use Find someone to look for a name, an email or a ticket number and check them in from the list. If the camera is blocked or missing, the scanner says so in a line, and both of these still work.

Stop turns the camera off, and Torch lights up the pass on phones that have one. The beep can be turned off.

Someone else at the door? Give them a door link. It opens this scanner for one event on their own phone, with no account and no password, and it stops working 6 hours after the event ends.

  1. On Scan tickets, press Door links for staff under the event. It opens the event's Staff tab.

  2. Type Their email (optional) for us to email them the link, or leave it empty to copy the link yourself, and give it A name for this link, such as Front door.

  3. Under What they can do, choose Check-in only, to scan tickets and check people in, or Event admin, who can also mark a ticket paid and let them in when someone pays at the door.

  4. Press Make the door link.

Each link is listed under Door links, with Copy and Revoke, which stops it at once. On a door link, emails are shown partly hidden, and a search finds an email only when the whole address is typed.

Good to know

Scanning tickets comes with the Events add-on, which is $0.99 a month on top of Pro. Without it the Scan tickets screen is shown greyed.
