Visiting Cards.Store

What happens to my details when I open or write to a card?

Anyone who got a card

Opening a card is counted and your device gets one line, a visit record is kept only where it is allowed, and what you send through the form goes to the card's owner.

When you open a card

  • The card counts the visit and the taps on its buttons, with your country. The owner sees these as numbers.
  • A visit record is kept only where it is allowed: see Why a card asks me to "Allow". It keeps no name and no IP address.
  • For every visitor, your browser keeps a random number for the card, and the card keeps one line for your device: the kind of phone, the browser's own description, the link you came from, when you last opened the card, and whether you added it to your home screen or turned on its notifications. That is how the card knows the same device when you come back. This line has no name and no IP address. It is not removed after a set time; to have it removed, see Asking a card owner to delete my details.

When you write to a card

  • What you send through the form goes to the card's owner, or on a company card to the company, and they decide how to use it. We keep it for them as their business contact.
  • We check the number you give against WhatsApp, only to know whether it can be reached there.
  • You may get one short thank-you message back.
  • We send you a WhatsApp message only after you have written to the card's owner first, and a notification only if you allowed them on the card.

The Privacy link beside the form opens the card's privacy notice, and the Privacy link at the bottom of every card opens our full privacy policy. To have your details removed, see Asking a card owner to delete my details.
