What is a notification here?

Pro

A notification is a short message from you that arrives on the lock screen of each phone that allowed notifications from your card, with no app to install.

In your dashboard: People > Notify > My Card Push & Lock Screen Alerts

A notification is a short message, a title and a line or two, that arrives on the lock screen of somebody's phone the way a message from an app does. Nobody has to download anything: your card is what they kept.

It reaches only the phones that allowed notifications from your card. A visitor does that on your card, in the Card Notifications row, by tapping Enable and then allowing it when their phone asks. See Getting updates from a card.

You send them from Notify in your dashboard. The screen is called My Card Push & Lock Screen Alerts and has two tabs: Send Notification, to write one now, and Automations, for messages that send themselves.

Each message costs one credit for every person it reaches, and Pro comes with 20 credits every month. See What is a message credit?.

Notifications are part of Pro, which is $0.99 a month. On the free plan the Notify screen is shown greyed, and a free card does not offer visitors the notifications row.

Good to know

A message on your wallet pass is a different thing, sent from the Wallet screen. See Notify and wallet pass messages: what's the difference?.
