What is a location alert?
Pro + Wallet + LocationA location alert is a line of yours that an iPhone holding your pass shows on its lock screen, by itself, when it is near a place you pinned.
In your dashboard: Your Card > Wallet > the Places & Location Alerts panel
Last updated
You pin a place, such as your shop, your office or your stand at a fair, and write one line for it. When somebody who holds your pass comes near that place, their iPhone shows your line on its lock screen. You do not send anything: the phone does it by itself.
- It works with Apple Wallet on an iPhone. See Why don't location alerts work on Android? for Android.
- It needs the wallet pass and a location add-on: one place, or up to ten. See Getting a location add-on.
- It costs no credit. See Does a location alert spend a credit?.
- Nobody is told when it happens, not us and not you. See Does the pass tell you where somebody is?.
You pin places on the Wallet screen, in the Places & Location Alerts panel. See Adding a place.
Apple decides how near is near enough, unless you set a distance of your own in How near, in metres. The phone also needs its location switched on for Wallet.
