Does the pass tell you where somebody is?

Pro + Wallet

No: the phone decides on its own whether it is near one of your places and tells nobody, and a pass carries nothing about the person who holds it.

In your dashboard: Your Card > Wallet > Location Alert Views and Active Passes

Last updated

No. A location alert happens inside the phone. The phone checks on its own whether it is near a place you pinned, shows your line if it is, and reports nothing back: not to us, and not to you.

That is why the Location Alert Views tile on the Wallet screen says it is not measured: there is nothing to count.

A pass also carries nothing about the person who keeps it. No name, no phone number and no email of theirs is ever written into it.

What you do see is how many passes are on phones (Active Passes, split between Apple Wallet and Google Wallet) and when a phone last came back for your pass.
