A wallet pass is a small card that lives in the wallet app a phone already has: Apple Wallet on an iPhone, Google Wallet on Android. It sits beside boarding passes and tickets, so the person who kept it finds you in two swipes, with nothing to install.
People add it themselves, from your card, with the Add to Apple Wallet or Add to Google Wallet button. See Who adds the pass: you or your visitor?.
You write the pass on the Wallet screen, in the Your wallet pass panel. It is its own thing: nothing is copied from your card, so the pass says exactly what you type there. See Does the pass change when I change my card?.
- Put a short message on it, and the phone shows it on the lock screen: Sending a message to everyone holding your pass.
- With a location add-on, an iPhone holding your pass shows a line of yours on its lock screen near a place you choose: What is a location alert?.
- Change it any time: press Publish this pass, and the passes already on phones change too. It saves what you typed first.
The wallet pass comes with the Pro + Wallet plan, which is $2.99 a month. See Getting Pro + Wallet.
