Connecting your number

You need three things: the WhatsApp add-on, a card, and the phone that holds the number. WhatsApp keeps working on your phone as before, and the number stays yours: you can disconnect it here whenever you want.

1. Open WhatsApp. You start on the Your number tab.

2. Read the note Before you connect your WhatsApp number, tick the box and press I accept.

3. Press Connect my number. A code appears on the screen.

4. On your phone, open WhatsApp, then Settings, then Linked devices, then Link a device.

5. Point the phone at the code on the screen.

6. The screen reloads and says Your number is connected.

• The code changes by itself. If it runs out before you scan it, press New code.
• After a while it stops changing. Press Resume to keep it coming.
• Once the number is connected, Show the code brings the code back if you need it.

The number stays yours, and WhatsApp keeps working on your phone as before. The screen then shows your number, how many people have written to you, and what is waiting to go out.

If the screen says there is no room for a new number just now, try again later.
