What counts as a scan?

All plans

A scan is one opening of a tracked link, whether someone scanned its QR code or tapped the link; the previews chat apps make of a link are not counted.

In your dashboard: People > Links & QR > What each link is doing

Last updated

Every time the address of one of your tracked links is opened, one scan is counted. It makes no difference whether a phone camera read its QR code, someone tapped the link in a message, or clicked it in an email.

What is counted

  • Every opening, including the same person opening it again.
  • Your own openings too, such as scanning a new code to test it.

What is not counted

  • The preview a chat or social app makes when a link is pasted into a message.
  • Automatic visits from search engines.
  • Your card's plain address, and the QR code drawn on your card itself. They are not tracked links, so opening them counts as a view of your card instead. See Views, contact saves and scans: what each number means.

For each scan we keep the day and the country it came from, never who scanned. A scan tells you somebody opened the link; whether their phone then opened your card, or they wrote to you, is in the other numbers. See Seeing what each link is doing.
