Who can I message?

Only people who have already written to your number on WhatsApp. We never message anyone first, and there is no setting that changes it.

The Your number tab counts them as People who have written. The other tabs show People you can message, which is the same people.

• A message meant for somebody who has not written to you yet waits, counted as Waiting for a first message. It goes the moment they write.
• If they never write, it is never sent.
• Being in your WhatsApp address book does not make somebody reachable. See Your WhatsApp address book.

The easiest way to be written to is the WhatsApp button on your card. See Setting up your WhatsApp button.
