Dates on your pass: relevant, valid and expiry

Pro + Wallet

An Apple pass can carry Relevant from and Expires, and a Google pass Valid from, Valid until and one reminder; all of them are optional.

In your dashboard: Your Card > Wallet > the Your wallet pass panel > the Timing group

Last updated

Dates are in the group Timing on each tab. A visiting card usually needs none of them; they are there for a pass that belongs to a day, such as an event.

On the Apple tab

  • Relevant from: the moment the iPhone may put the pass on the lock screen by itself.
  • Expires: the moment the pass stops being of use. It must come after Relevant from.

On the Google tab

  • Valid from and Valid until: the window the pass is good for. Valid until must come after Valid from.
  • Remind them it is about to start: Google's own nudge before the Valid from date.
  • Remind them it is about to end: Google's own nudge as the Valid until date comes near. It costs no credit.

A Google pass carries one reminder, not both, and each needs its own date: the start reminder needs Valid from, the end reminder needs Valid until.

The time you type is read in your account's time zone, the one set on Settings, and shown back in it. See Setting your time zone.

Good to know

On an iPhone, a pass past its Expires time is shown as expired. On Android, a pass is marked expired when you publish or change it after its Valid until time; a date that simply passes is left to Google, which may keep showing the pass as usual. To take a pass out of use on every phone at once, use Retire this pass. See Retiring a pass.
