The code on the pass

The bottom of a pass holds a code, or nothing. The phone draws it from what you type. It is in the group The code on both tabs.
- What the code opens: usually your card's own address, so a scan opens your card. A number, a name or any words work too.
- The kind of code: QR code (square), Aztec (square), PDF417 (a wide stack of bars) or Code 128 (one row of bars).
- The words under the code: what a person reads if a scanner will not take it.
- On Apple only, How the letters are written into it: leave it as it is for plain Latin letters, and pick utf-8 for any other letters.
On an Apple pass a square code leaves room for all the small lines. A wide code takes the width of the pass, so there is less room beside it.
Leave What the code opens empty and the pass carries no code at all. Words under the code with nothing in the code are not drawn either.
To count how many people scan it, put the address of one of your tracked links in the box instead of your card's own address. See What is a tracked link?.
