How changes reach phones: at once or at the next check
Pro + WalletPublishing sends every pass on a phone back for the new words at once, and Instant Push Broadcast decides whether a place you save or remove goes out at once too.
In your dashboard: Your Card > Wallet > the How changes reach the phones panel

A change to your pass reaches phones in one of two ways: at once, or the next time the phone checks the pass by itself.
- A change to the words or pictures goes out when you press Publish this pass. Every phone holding the pass is told at once, and it usually lands in a few seconds.
- A place you save or remove follows the Instant Push Broadcast switch. On, every pass is told at once. Off, each phone picks the change up the next time it asks for the pass.
Open Wallet and find How changes reach the phones.
Switch Instant Push Broadcast on or off.
Press Save how changes go out.
The panel also says when a pass of yours last changed, and when a phone last came back for your pass. If a phone has never come back, nothing has reached a phone yet.
A lock-screen line when something changes
In the pass designer, the switch Tell the phone when a line changes makes the phone say what changed, such as "Job title is now Director". It is one switch for both wallets and it is off to start with.
- On Apple, the phone shows the line itself. It is not a message from you and it spends no credit.
- On Google, the notice counts as one of the few notifications a day Google allows one pass, together with your pass messages. See How often can I put a message on somebody's pass?.
