What is on the People screen?#
Two lists, under a screen called Contacts & Devices. Exchange Form Submissions are the people who filled in the Stay in touch form on your card and sent you their details. Devices That Opened Your Card has one row for each phone or computer that opened your card, with whether it added the card to its home screen and allowed notifications - the phones that allowed them are the ones you can send a notification to later. Four counters sit above them: Contacts saved (the times people saved your contact from your card), My Card Saved (phones that added it to their home screen), Push Allowed (phones that allow notifications now), and Form Leads.
What is the Stay in touch form?#
A short form on your card page that lets a visitor send you their name, phone, email and a message, instead of you having to remember to take their details. Two of its fields are required and the rest are theirs to fill in. When they send it you have their details in your own list, not on a scrap of paper.
What does the WhatsApp button on the form do?#
It opens a WhatsApp chat to you with a message already typed, so the visitor only has to press send. You can set the wording under WhatsApp in your dashboard, and it is the same message the card's own WhatsApp button uses.
Can I search my leads?#
Yes, there is a search box over the submissions list. It matches on what people typed, so a name, a company or a word from their message will find the row.
How do I get my contacts out?#
Export to CSV on the People screen downloads your list as a spreadsheet file that opens in Excel, Numbers or Sheets. Every export is recorded in our audit trail with the number of rows, because it is personal data leaving the system and that should never be invisible.
Who is allowed to export?#
Only the account's owner, and only their own account's rows. Every read carries the account it belongs to, so a link to somebody else's export cannot return anybody else's people.
What does the list of devices that opened my card tell me?#
That a particular phone or computer opened your card, when it first did and when it last came back, which link brought it, whether it added your card to its home screen and whether it allowed notifications. It is a device, not a name: unless that person also filled in the form, we do not know who they are, and neither do you. That is the deal the card makes with a visitor.
Can I message the people who saved my card?#
Yes, if they allowed notifications. Notify writes the message and sends it to those phones. See Notifications for how the counting works.
Can I be reminded to follow somebody up?#
Yes. A follow-up reminder can be set on a lead for a number of days ahead, and birthdays and anniversaries taken from a lead's own fields are raised about a week before the day. You choose the timing under the automations.
Does the form work on a free card?#
Yes. The Stay in touch form is shown on a free card, and every message and every set of details people leave in it is kept. On the free plan your People screen shows how many people wrote to you; reading them is part of Pro, and every one is there the day you move to Pro. Downloading the list and the list of phones and computers that opened your card are part of Pro too. They are shown greyed and marked Pro feature, with an Upgrade button to Billing. The "Send me your card" button on the card is part of Pro too.
What happens to my leads if my plan ends?#
Nothing is deleted. People who wrote to you before are still listed. People who write after the plan ends are kept and marked, and the screen tells you how many are waiting; they appear when the plan is back.
How long do you keep all this?#
Your leads and the list of phones and computers that opened your card are yours and are not swept away on a timer. What is cleared on a schedule is the per-visitor browsing record behind Analytics, and the words inside support messages, both after 120 days. The Privacy and data tab lists it table by table.
Can somebody ask me to delete their details?#
Yes, and you should do it. They can also write to us directly and we will remove what we hold about them. If somebody asks you, export first if you need the rest of the list, then remove their row.
Why does one person show up twice?#
A person who opens your card on two phones is two rows in the list of devices, and somebody who fills in the form twice sends two messages. The list is a record of what happened, not a tidy address book, so nothing is silently merged behind your back.
On a company account, whose leads are these?#
The company's. Each seat's card gathers its own, the admin sees them together, and they stay with the seat when the person holding it changes. See Team and seats.
