Troubleshooting

The things that go wrong most often, and what to do about each.

I cannot sign in.#

Check you are on www.visitingcards.store/login rather than your own card address - the sign-in lives on the main site. If the password is wrong, use Forgot your password on the same screen. If you signed up with Google, use the Google button rather than a password, because no password was ever set.

The password reset email has not arrived.#

Look in the spam folder first, and check the address is the one you signed up with. If it still has not come after a few minutes, write to us from that address and we will sort it out.

The Publish button will not let me publish.#

Publishing waits for your email to be confirmed. Open the confirmation email we sent when you signed up and press Continue. If you cannot find it, write to us and we will send another. A blocked publish also opens the panel holding whatever else is missing and marks the box.

My address shows nothing.#

Three things do that. The card has never been published - press Publish changes. The card is paused - Cards, Settings tab, Resume. Or the address is spelled differently from the one you chose; it is printed on your Home screen, ready to copy.

I changed my card but the old version still shows.#

A draft saves itself but is private: press Publish changes for it to go live. If you have published and still see the old page, your own browser is probably holding it - pull down to refresh, or open it in a private window. The public page is refreshed on our side the moment you publish.

My QR code will not scan.#

Nearly always contrast or size. Use dark on white, download the SVG rather than the PNG when it is going on paper, and keep it at least two centimetres across on a printed card with a clear margin round it. A code laid over a photograph or in a pale brand colour is a code no camera reads.

My picture will not upload.#

It must be a PNG, JPEG or WebP and under five megabytes, and we check the file's real bytes rather than its name - a picture renamed to .png is still refused. If you are pasting a web address instead of uploading, only a picture already on our own storage or our own site is accepted, and the box says so when it refuses.

My phone number is being changed when I save it.#

It is being put into international form using your account's country, so a number typed the way you dial it at home becomes the full form a phone anywhere can ring. If it comes out wrong, your account country is probably wrong - change it under Settings - or type the number with its country code and it is kept as you typed it.

The WhatsApp button on my card does not open a chat.#

The number needs its country code, and WhatsApp itself will not open a chat to a landline. Check the number on the WhatsApp screen, where the chat preview shows you what a visitor will get.

Nobody is getting my notifications.#

Only people who allowed notifications from your card, by pressing Enable on it, can be reached, and the number who did is on your People screen under Push Allowed. Beyond that: a phone that cleared its browser data, removed the card from the home screen or turned notifications off is no longer reachable, and we drop it from your list the first time it refuses.

What is the Card Health audit on Review us?#

Five checks run against your real card: whether your colours are readable, whether the wallet pass is ready on each platform, whether the page can be installed on a phone, whether every phone number is in international form, and whether the contact file works. The score is simply how many passed, so it is a measurement rather than a compliment.

How does somebody install my card on an iPhone?#

In Safari, the Share button, then Add to Home Screen. Your card page draws those exact steps for whichever phone the visitor is holding, so they do not have to be told. On Android there is a button that does it in one press.

My card feels slow to open.#

The usual cause is a very large picture. Photographs are squared and shrunk when you upload them, but a gallery of twenty of them is still twenty pictures. Videos, maps and embeds draw a still first and load only when somebody taps them, so those are not the cause.

How do I get a person to look at my problem?#

Help and Support in the dashboard has a form that opens a ticket with us, with your own address as the reply address, and there is a contact page on the main site as well. Tell us your card address and what you were doing - it saves a round of questions.

I think I have found a bug.#

Please tell us. Say what you pressed, what you expected and what happened, and add your card address and the phone or browser you were using. We would rather hear about it twice than not at all.
